Virtual Worlds staff give charities a boost

Virtual Worlds staff have held a number of events in aid of various charities in the run-up to Christmas.

The delicious winning bake

First up was a ‘bake-off’ competition in aid of BBC Children in Need.  Judges paid for the privilege of sampling the cakes with all the proceeds going to charity. The competition was fought over 4 rounds, held over 4 weeks in November. The winners of each round then competed for the title of ‘bake-off’ champion in the Christmas themed final which was held on 10th December.

The winning bake was this delicious ginger cake with caramel frosting, baked by our Marketing and Admin Manager, Nadine.

The competition was enjoyed by both the bakers and judges and raised a total of £155 for the BBC Children in Need Appeal.

Hot on the heels of the ‘bake-off’ was the Logicom Quiz Night and raffle. Held in aid of the Rowan Varey memorial fund, this annual event is a firm favourite amongst staff and can get quite competitive!

Santa asks the questions

On 11th Dec, seven teams took their places to answer questions on topics such as sport, films and music bingo. Imagine a game of bingo, but instead of numbers, the aim is to match songs – yes, that is as much fun as it sounds! There was even a Christmas round and the question master was Santa himself. The winning team was “Is it an Owl?” who can owe their success in part to their encyclopedic music knowledge.

The quiz and raffle raised a grand total of £425 for the charity, which will go towards building the Kinyinya school in Kenya. Further details about the charity and its aims can be found here.
