Virtual Worlds Pro

This page details the main changes included with the latest versions of Virtual Worlds Pro. For more detailed information on what’s new in the latest version, refer to the user centre.

Version release 8.2

  • Room Design Templates – 4 Additional design template shapes.
  • Decorating Curved Walls – The ability to paint/texture/tile all the sections of a curved wall in one click.
  • New Functionality: ‘Align Unit to References Centre’ – Works like the ‘Align Unit to Surface Centre’ option, except it aligns to the centre of two references.
  • New Keyboard Shortcuts – Tilt & Turn, Walk, Rubber Band and Unhide Selected Items.
  • Rendering Settings – Updated the ‘Create Image’ to include new preset images that are relatable sizing and different orientations. Bring Image type to the forefront to make Architectural and Normal mode more visible.

  • Updates integration with EQ.
  • Fixes an issue with not being able to publish to Design Cloud.
  • Fixes an issue with ‘Missing mfc140.dll‘ message.
  • Fixes an occasional crash when loading a new design template into Sketchpad.
  • Fixes an issue with Architectural doors moving after replacing a handle.
  • Fixes an issue with some horizontal handles coming in vertically after reloading a design.
  • Fixes an occasional crash when loading a design containing wall panels.
  • Fixes an issue with apertures not cutting all the way through internal walls.
  • Fixes an issue with some walls facing the outwards after generating a room.
  • Fixes an issue when using ‘Esc’ to close the Edit Modifiers window.
  • Fixes an issue with the ‘About’ screen in High resolution.

  • Fixes issue where additional tabs in the side panel did not stack to the right of existing tabs.

  • Fixes “Enter a Number” error that would appear on some user’s machines during start-up.
  • Fixes an issue with normal maps not working on walls.
  • Fixes an issue with cutters (and other hidden units) affecting dynamic hoses.
  • Fixes an issue with applying worktops on scenes containing an Architectural Scenery Sphere.
  • Fixes a crash when part elevation symbols were missing information. This was reported with a Montrose Furniture unit.
  • Fixes a crash when resizing a room with windows cut into an alcove.
  • Fixes a crash when using the “Equal Weight” button in the Template dialog.
  • Fixes an occasional crash when closing a design with multiple items selected.
  • Fixes a crash when users click away from the update cached files message box.
  • Fixes a crash when rotating a ceiling light in drag mode.
  • Fixes general cutting issues when dragging recessed items. Items no longer re-recess while dragging, instead they recess when you release the left button.
  • Fixes issues when nudging recessed items within an internal wall.
  • Fixes an issue where tileable shower trays were tiling in different directions.
  • Fixes an issue with scene scroller showing the wrong unit/part when a VR light is selected.
  • Fixes an issue with lights changing size on loading when “Filament Lighting” is enabled.
  • Fixes an issue with Normal Maps being ignored at Unit level in Urho.
  • Fixes an issue in photorealistic rendering where light bulbs glowed even when they were turned off.
  • Fixes an issue with drag mode not working when an item is selected in the scene graph.
  • Fixes a Sketchpad issue with the mouse wheel zoom not working on secondary monitors.

  • Fixed error where GenerateProductCode fails to handle non-XML compliant product codes.
  • Template rotation optimisation.
  • Fixed Tile refresh application issue.
  • Fixed issue whereby tiles would apply to cut and not surface.
  • Fixed Shower Tray tiling issue.

Virtual Worlds 8.0.286

This release provides new features and a variety of bug fixes, highlighted below:

  • Adds full integration with EQ (this requires a One Price account; please contact Support to get set up).
  • Bug fixes and optimisations.
  • Fixed an issue where random rotation occurs upon duplication.
  • Fixed an issue when inserting packs, where the pack splits regardless of the connection point option being selected or not.
  • Fixed an issue where the blue circle indicating backup saving reoccurs if the backup has failed.
  • Optimised design filename handling.
  • Additional Category messaging implemented.
  • The legacy Support wizard has now been removed.
  • Fixed an issue where the program would close if a texture had been applied to a VR bulb.
  • Fixed an issue where adding a primitive to a surface would create multiple surfaces.

Virtual Worlds 7.3.145

This release provides new features and a variety of bug fixes, highlighted below:

  • Adds the ability to tile certain objects without converting them to surface.
  • Adds the ability to update Virtual Worlds Pro automatically from Help > Check for Updates.
  • Bug fixes and optimisations.
  • Adds visual improvements to dialog boxes when applying tile templates to one another.
  • Fixes an issue where the Stand Alone Renderer could incorrectly present a ‘Version Mismatch’ warning.
  • Fixes an issue when exporting mitres to a design to Virtual Worlds 4D Theatre.
  • Fixes an issue where applying a texture change to all matching textures would not work correctly.
  • Fixes an issue that could see the ‘Release Notes’ page launch more frequently than required.
  • Fixes an issue where the Template Wizard could show erroneous measurements when applying tile templates.
  • Fixes a crash which could occur when removing generated walls from a design with references active.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when attempting to select a grout catalogue on a surface with no tiling.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when deleting doors that are cut into tiling.

Virtual Worlds 7.3.80

This release provides additional features and contains a variety of bug fixes, highlighted below:

  • Introduces a revamped method of autosaving, adding rolling backups to a specific backup folder.
  • Enhances collision of dynamic hoses so that they no longer collide with external walls.
  • Various 2D diagram enhancements including improved dimension control to allow any dimension to be deleted, a new option to select units from their dimensions and a new ‘overflow’ line to tidy up smaller item dimensions.
  • Bug fixes and optimisations.
  • Adds additional functionality to the Catalogue tab which allows a user to hide, show or uninstall catalogues.
  • Adds a new ‘Help’ tab to the Virtual Worlds start page, linking to the Virtual Worlds online help system.
  • Improves the use of manually edited textures, allowing them to be remembered and applied to other items.
  • Introduces user control of path remapping for designs.
  • Tile Wizard grout information is now remembered between tiling applications within a design session.
  • Updates the Mitre dialog to improve usability, and can now be opened using the right click menu.
  • Mitres are now correctly remembered on room load.
  • Introduces a revised layout to the Surface Textures dialogue.
  • Simplifies wall cutting, removing the need for extra menus or confusing decisions.
  • Fixes an issue where a unit with a locked reference could still be moved using Align to Surface.
  • Tidies up various areas of the interface to line up with current standards.
  • Ensures that worktops can always be selected in a 2D elevation.
  • 2D diagrams now scale correctly over multiple pages.
  • 2D diagram dimensions now account for wall thickness.
  • 2D diagram dimension text has been rotated to improve readability.
  • Renames 2D Diagram Primary and Secondary dimensions to Width, Depth or Height.
  • Fixes an issue where certain automatically applied trims could not have their dimensions added.
  • Fixes an issue where applied tile rotation could be lost when making changes and refreshing an applied tile template.
  • Fixes an issue when using the Manual Measurement tool where an incorrect measurement could be given.
  • Fixes an issue with the software slowing down when a very large sketchpad wall is entered.
  • Fixes an intermittent crash when using the Scale To Fit option on a 2D diagram.
  • Fixes a crash when opening designs.
  • Fixes a crash when applying certain wall textures to the top of walls/thickness.

Virtual Worlds 7.2.57

This release contains a variety of bug fixes and minor improvements, highlighted below:

  • Adds a 3D Tape Measure, providing the ability to measure between any two distances directly from a 3D design.
  • Speeds up various areas of the system including design saving and loading, applying tiling and generating and refreshing 2D diagrams.
  • Bug fixes and optimisations.
  • Adds a 3D Tape Measure, providing the ability to measure between any two distances directly from a 3D design.
  • Speeds up various areas of the system including design saving and loading, applying tiling and generating and refreshing 2D diagrams.
  • Improves the Tip of the Day dialogue, giving a new option to view all available tips.
  • Adds additional right click options for saving tiling templates and replacing tiles within a template.
  • Adds the ability to tile in layers, allowing for designs to cater for waterproof panelling easily.
  • Fixes an issue where cut mitres were lost after a range change operation.
  • Enhances the path mapping for designs with missing resources. Now, a previously browsed for location is saved for other designs.
  • Enhances the sticky props feature so that a unit can be dragged before being made sticky, and it will stick to a surface.
  • Adds a Tip of the Day option to the Help menu.
  • Ensures that tile grout cannot be deeper than the depth of the tile when being applied to a surface.
  • Adds the ability for Virtual Worlds Pro to start the SQL server service automatically when launched, if it detects it isn’t running.
  • Enhances how tile templates are shown within the scene graph, meaning that the names of tile templates are now visible.
  • Adds additional keyboard and mouse functionality to various windows, allowing more scroll and tab commands.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when changing the length of a wall in sketchpad, if the wall was painted.
  • Fixes an issue where replacing a unit could result in the height incorrectly showing as 0mm.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when referencing tiling to a surface.
  • Fixes an issue where mirroring a unit wouldn’t update the 2D symbol file shown on 2D plans and elevations.
  • Fixes an issue where moving a group of sticky props would only allow the primary selection to stick.
  • Fixes an issue where the primary selection when saving a custom collection wasn’t being retained when reinserted into a design.
  • Fixes an issue where the Unit Information dropdown within various dialogues would disappear when the design was saved.
  • Fixes an issue where the default sky colour could revert to blue if a predefined template was used.
  • Fixes an issue where releasing the shift key whilst sketching a rectangle wouldn’t refresh the sketch on screen.
  • Fixes an issue where loading old designs could fail due to modifiers being blank.
  • Ensures that the arrow keys can be used to move items in the 3D environment.
  • Fixes a problem where certain units would insert detached from their related components.
  • Fixes an issue where the height value of an item could report incorrectly when multiple items were selected.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when tiling an angled wall with a recess.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when deleting certain worktops from a 3D design.
  • Fixes a crash that could occur when reverting boxing that has been cut to a unit.
